Dengue remains a significant health concern in the Philippines, with recent years (2024-2025) showing high case numbers, often exceeding 100,000 annually, particularly during the rainy season, leading to DOH campaigns like “Alas Kwatro Kontra Mosquito” to control mosquito breeding.
While fatality rates are generally low (around 0.36-0.43%), spikes in cases, especially among young children (5-9 years old), are common, prompting increased vigilance and vector control measures, though specific treatments are lacking
