Here we have an ecclesiastical power—a church—sitting on top of and steering the political power of Rome. It’s the “Holy Roman Empire” vibe when religion stops being about a personal relationship with Christ and starts being about state-enforced mandates.

The Roman system took pagan sun-worship, slapped a “Christian” label on it, and called it the new day of worship. The Church later doubled down at the Council of Laodicea (363 A.D.), saying Christians shouldn’t “Judaize” by resting on Saturday but should work on that day and honor Sunday instead.
Why the Sabbath? Because you can’t argue for it with “logic.” You can argue why you shouldn’t kill or steal based on social stability. But there is no logical reason to pick the seventh day over the first—except that God said so. It is the ultimate test of obedience. Rev. 13:17 says “no man might buy or sell” without the mark.
